Course Summary
Mullaloo Beach - Mindarie - Mullaloo Beach (Finish)
About the Course
The initial loop North heads all the way from Mullaloo to Mindarie along the coastal path and return from Mindarie along the same route.
This stretch of coastline is a very undulating and while not all steep, some will challenge and this includes a stiff 400m climb on the Burns Beach to Mindarie segment.
Participants need to to take care at a few road crossings due to deviations of the Coastal path due to the Ocen Reef Marina development. This final loop is the most challenging of all the sections and will test the legs of the strongest on the day! Once you hit the top of the Mullaloo lookout on your return it's all downhill, flat and home to the Start/Finish.
Again care must be taken at any shared path intersections along this leg.
Through the urban loop along Ocean Reef there are a few road crossings and narrower paths so participants need to be diligent and follow normal road rules.
Once you the outskirts of Mindarie you will reach the mid-way Leg 1 checkpoint which includes an official Aid Station.
There is no handover point at this point for relay runners as Leg 1 incorporates the full 27km out and back loop.
Participants must be aware that there is no water top up locations from the Burns Beach to Mindarie leg which is over 5km long. Therefore it is essential you have sufficient hydration stores with you for both the out and back sections of this leg.
