City of Joondalup - Coastal Quest

The Coastal Quest Triathlon event is held at Whitford Nodes Park, Hillarys on the stunning Northern Beaches of Perth in the City of Joondalup and is suitable for all levels of athletes.

About the City of Joondalup - Coastal Quest

Tin Lids, Aqua Bolt, Bolt, Sprint, Aquabike and Duathlon - Challenge Accepted!

The 2026 City of Joondalup Coastal Quest will take place on  Sunday 13th December 2026

The Coastal Quest Triathlon event is held annually at Whitford Nodes Park, Hillarys in the City of Joondalup and is suitable for all levels of athletes, including a short 'Aqua Bolt'  and 'Bolt' race ideal for all novice age groups and junior participants.  Novice and age-group athletes also have the option to step up to the Sprint distance of 750m Swim / 20km Ride / 5km Run.

For participants that are current Triathlon Australia and TWA Standard or Premium members the Coastal Quest will be  a 2026/27 Senior and Junior State Series point score event.

In 20206 the event is also presented as a WA State Championship over the:

  • Sprint distance for Juniors (14-15Yrs & 16-19Yrs) and Senior Athletes +20Yrs.

  • Bolt distance for Juniors (12-13Yrs)

Race for the Australian Age Group Team - Hamburg 2027

The City of Joondalup Coastal Quest is proudly recognised by AusTriathlon as a 2027 Australian Age Group Team

Qualifying Race for the Sprint Triathlon at the 2027 World Triathlon Age Group World

Championships, to be held in Hamburg, Germany.

Athletes competing in the Sprint at the City of Joondalup Coastal Quest Triathlon will have the opportunity to seek selection to represent Australia on the world stage, subject to the criteria outlined in the Australian Age Group Team Selection Policy.

Eligibility reminder

To be eligible for selection consideration:

  • Athletes must hold a Standard or Premium AusTriathlon membership

  • Athletes must compete in the nominated (Race Distance)

  • Selection is determined in line with the official AusTriathlon selection process

Race Distances

The event includes selection of short races including:

  • Sprint  – 750m Swim / 20km Ride / 5km Run – for novice athletes, senior, elite and representative junior athletes

  • Sprint Team Relay – 750m Swim / 20km Ride / 5km Run – for Teams (2-3 member teams in relay format)

  • Aqua Bolt – 300m Swim / 2km Run – for and novice, senior and juniors athletes (+12Yrs)

  • Bolt – 300m Swim / 7km Ride / 2km Run – for and novice, senior and juniors athletes (+12Yrs)

  • Duathlon – 2km Run / 20km Ride / 5km Run – for junior and novice athletes

  • AquaBike – 750m Swim / 20km Ride – for junior and novice athletes

  • TinLids (Kids  - 7-11Yrs) – 100m Swim / 3km Ride / 500m Run
